Nicola Head is a chartered civil engineer who specialises in bridge management. She has led highway bridge teams for Buckinghamshire and Transport for London, managing a wide range of highway structures from Thames crossings to small rural brick arches. Nicola has participated for many years in area and national bridge groups, and is currently Vice-Chair of the UK Bridges Board and a member of Bridge Owners Forum representing Transport for London. She was UKBB representative on the ‘Well managed Highway Infrastructure’ steering group for the 2016 re-write and is again involved in the 2026 update of the Code of Practice.
